How Much Does a Night Out in Phuket Cost? A Realistic 2026 Budget in Baht
27 June 2026 · 7 min · The Phuket Diva Team

“How much do I need for a night out?” is the question we get more than any other, and most answers online are useless because they quote either a backpacker’s beer budget or a whale’s bar tab. Here is the honest middle — an itemised, 2026 breakdown in baht, plus three realistic budgets you can actually plan around.
The building blocks
Drinks. The foundation of every night. On and around Soi Bangla, reckon on 100 to 180 THB for a local beer and 200 to 350 THB for a cocktail. Street beer bars are cheapest; go-go bars and big clubs charge more.
Lady drinks. If you sit with someone at a bar, buying them a drink runs 150 to 250 THB each. Optional, and easy to say no to — full explanation in our bar scene guide.
Bar fines. Releasing someone from their shift costs roughly 600 to 1,000 THB in beer bars, 1,000 to 2,000 THB in go-go bars. This is the single item that turns a modest night into an expensive one.
Club entry. Often free or a drink-token deal early on. On peak nights the bigger venues charge 500 to 800 THB, usually including a drink — see the best nightclubs in Phuket.
Transport. A tuk-tuk across Patong is a negotiated 200 to 400 THB; app taxis (Grab, Bolt) are cheaper and metered-ish. Late at night, prices climb and tuk-tuks stop negotiating — agree the fare first.
Food. Street food 60 to 150 THB a plate; a sit-down restaurant meal 300 to 700 THB. A 2am pad thai from a cart is a rite of passage and costs almost nothing.
Companions. If you would rather book in advance than work the bars, browse our companions — agency rates are set and transparent, see our pricing. You trade the unpredictable bar-fine-plus-drinks maths for a clear, agreed figure.
Three sample budgets
The easy night — around 1,500 THB. A few street beers, walk Bangla, one club with a token entry, street food, a shared taxi home. Sociable, low-key, no bar fines.
The mid night — around 3,500 THB. More drinks, a go-go bar with a couple of lady drinks, club entry with a round or two, a proper dinner, taxis both ways. The typical “good night out.”
The all-out night — 7,000 THB and up. Go-go bars, a bar fine, generous rounds, VIP-ish club spending and late taxis. Fun, but this is where people wake up surprised — so decide in advance if this is the night you are having.
Money tips that save you
- Draw a cash line and stick to it. Bring what you intend to spend; leave the cards and the rest at the hotel.
- Check every bill. Padding is the most common “scam,” and a calm itemised check fixes it — more in our Patong scams guide.
- Use app taxis where you can; they remove the nightly fare argument.
- Break big notes early. “No change” is a classic way to round your bill up.
The bottom line
Phuket nightlife is as cheap or as expensive as you decide before you leave the hotel. The drinks are affordable; the spending happens in the extras — lady drinks, bar fines, late taxis and enthusiasm. Set a cash budget, keep it in mind, and you will have a brilliant night without the morning-after maths. If you prefer a clear, agreed figure over the bar-by-bar tally, book a companion and skip the guesswork. This guide is part of our complete Phuket nightlife guide.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does a night out in Phuket cost?
- A relaxed night of drinks and a club runs roughly 1,500 to 3,000 THB per person. A bigger night involving go-go bars, lady drinks or a bar fine can reach 5,000 to 8,000 THB or more. Your two biggest variables are how much you drink and whether you pay bar fines.
- How much are drinks in Patong?
- Expect about 100 to 180 THB for a local beer and 200 to 350 THB for a cocktail on or around Soi Bangla. Prices are higher inside go-go bars and the bigger clubs, and cheaper at street beer bars a little off the main strip.
- Is Phuket nightlife expensive?
- It is cheap to start and easy to overspend. Walking the street and a couple of beers costs very little; the money goes on lady drinks, bar fines, club spending and late-night taxis. Setting a cash budget before you go out is the single best way to keep it under control.
- How much should I tip in Phuket?
- Tipping is not mandatory but appreciated. Rounding up or leaving 20 to 100 THB for good bar service is normal, and a little generosity is remembered. In restaurants, 10 percent is generous where no service charge is added.
- Should I use cash or card for a night out?
- Cash, almost always. Most bars are cash-only, card use invites bill padding, and carrying a set amount of cash is the easiest way to cap your spending. Bring what you plan to spend and leave the rest at your hotel.
